Positive Behaviour for learning (PBL) is an educational process that brings together the whole-school community to contribute a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. The PBL framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.
PBL is a process, not a program. It is constantly evolving and changing, as the needs of students, school and community change. The language of PBL is always explicit and positively phrased. There is a tiered system of rules and expectations that support all students in all areas. The universal expectations (shown below) are overarching for "everyone, everywhere, every time". In addition to this we have expectations and procedures, with accompanying lessons, for other situations within the school e.g. the canteen, assembly, evacuations etc. Each classroom then has its own rules which support the class's individual routines and procedures e.g. entering the classroom, small group work etc.
PBL Vision Statement: At Kincumber Public School we value and strive to develop safe, respectful learners in a caring community. We focus on promoting excellence, opportunity and success for every student, every day, inspiring students to participate positively in society.
