Term 4 Stage 1

Our dynamic, creative and enthusiastic teaching team includes Mrs Belinda Griffiths, Mrs Abbie Marlin and Mrs Michelle Cox, Miss Monica McKenzie, Mrs Jodie Holloman and Mrs Kylie McGavin.

Goodbye Term 3..... and what a busy term it was.  We took part in the School Athletics Carnival, and even had some Year 2 students go onto to compete at zone level.  Thank you to all the parents who assisted on this day.  It is a huge day for the students and teachers.  We really appreciate it!

Probably the most memorable was the Whole School Musical! Cinderella and Rockerfella was an amazing success.  It was so wonderful to see every child participate in stage 1.  The costumes were wonderful, the singing fantastic, and who could forget those dance moves on the stage? Thank you once again to the teachers and parents that assisted in making the concerts run so smoothly.

Following is an overview of the exciting things we have planned for Term 4.

Our Sports in Schools program will start in week 1.  Students are required to wear sports uniform on a Thursday.  The cost is $25 and can be paid in the first 2 weeks of school.  The program consists of gymnastics and social skills.  Primary completed the program in term 3 and I can safely say that stage 1 has watched in awe each week at the amazing resources they are exposed to through this program. Looks like loads of fun, whilst learning essential skills.

During week 4 Musica Aviva will visit KPS with a show titled Clarinet, Bassoon and Flutes- Arcadia Winds.  Permission notes will go out shortly, so stay tuned.

In Maths we will continue our exploration of number.  We will also look at mass, length, patterns and space.  Not forgetting the all important concepts of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.  The students can access mathletics here- Mathletics

Our History/ Geography Unit this term is 'Its about Time.'- Characteristics of Curiosity.'  Throughout the term students will develop a curiosity about the world around them.  They will learn about how the past has an impact on their present and future lives.

Our Creative and Performing arts program will continue this term.  Every Wednesday classes move to specialised teachers and participate in a 5 week program developing their appreciation and understanding of the arts.  Courses include dance, singing, drama, Aboriginal art appreciation and digital art (ipads).  Whilst these groups take place Mrs McGavin runs a specialised small group social group program with Stage 1 students.

Yet again, a busy and productive term.
