Moving to high school program

What is the "Transition to high school" program?

The Kincumber Public School transition program contains activities linked together to ensure that the four phases of transition and the five areas of action for transition are all reflected in the program. This program has been developed following an audit of our current school needs.

The Kincumber Public School Transition program helps to improve students' experiences as they move from the familiar surroundings of their primary schools to the less familiar environments in secondary schools.

There are so many conflicting demands for the time of school leaders, but few efforts pay off as highly as does an effective transition between primary and secondary school.

Giving incoming students a strong start in Year 7 helps to assure their continued success throughout secondary school. Transition programs are investments in the future, not only for individual students but also for the schools involved.

Selective High School Placement

Government schools use a range of strategies to meet the educational needs of gifted and talented students. One strategy is selective high school placement which provides intellectual stimulation and an educationally enriched environment for gifted and talented students.

Offers for selective high school placement will be made on the basis of the Selective High School Placement Test results and school assessment.
