Book Fair

As a result of your support for the Book Fair in 2017 we now have $1175.00 worth of books accessioned into the library and over  495 points to spend with Scholastic online.  This is our biggest fundraiser for the library each year. We hope that you will support us again this year.

Lunchtime Library Activities

The Library is a popular space at lunchtime. Students enjoy reading, drawing, chess, Lego building, farm animal play, dinosaurs play and computer games. Our P&C have kindly donated funds for us to purchase additional resources for lunchtimes.

Library Monitors

Our Library Monitors do a wonderful job supporting younger children at lunchtime, and I look forward to working with the 2018 group.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Each year our students participate in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC). Students who complete the challenge will receive their certificates later in the year. This year it is our hope that all students will complete the PRC 2018.

Students from K-2 complete the PRC in library and class time. I will process the PRC reading log for students K-2. Students 3-6 will log their own books at the PRC website. Students can add to their log from home and in library time at school. I encourage parents to view their child's PRC progress when they are logged in at home.

All students at KPS participate in the PRC. The Premier's Office publishes a list of participating schools, and a separate list of students who complete the challenge. Information on data privacy can be found at the NSW PRC website. Please contact Mrs Judd in the Library if you have and questions.

Parent Help

We are blessed with the support of so many parents and carers at KPS. Parents can assist in the library in a variety of ways, such as

  • Re-shelving books in the morning session (8:50am – 10:50am)
  • Processing new books
  • Covering library books and readers
  • Donating new books
  • Book Fair roster in May
  • 2020 Sesquicentenary planning team

Please contact our Teacher Librarian, Mrs Judd for more information.
