School Emergency Procedures

The school's emergency management procedures have been developed by the Health and Safety Committee of the school and include procedures to deal with emergencies where an evacuation, lockdown or lockout may be required.

Level 1 – Evacuate to designated safe assembly area onsite

It is safer outdoors e.g. building fire

Take personal belongings, turn off lights, electrical & gas appliances, close windows and doors if safe to do so.

Children line up in class groups for roll call by class teachers

Level 2 - Evacuate to designated safe assembly area offsite

It is safer outdoors and off site

e.g. bushfire

GO IN

Level 1 – Go indoors to own workspace

It is safer indoors e.g. severe weather, chemical or gas escape

Make way to own workspace, shut windows and doors, class teachers mark roll and notify office of status, wait for further instructions. Possible  lockout

Level 2 - Go indoors to own workspace & stay in

It is safer indoors and taking shelter

e.g. pack of dogs, earthquake, aggressive person

Make way to own workspace, shut windows and doors, class teachers mark roll and notify office of status, wait for further instructions. Possible  lockout

Level 3 - Go indoors to nearest building, stay in & stay down

It is safer locked indoors and taking shelter e.g. violent intruder

Make way to nearest building, lock windows and doors, take attendance and notify office of status, wait for further instructions. Possible  lockout
