Literacy focus 2018

This year, based on school-based assessment, NAPLAN assessment and student need, K-6 classrooms are focusing on improving comprehension, particularly inferential comprehension. Students need to apply higher order thinking and metacognitive strategies (reflecting, monitoring, questioning, assessing) whilst reading in order to maintain understanding of a text. This is the goal in Stage 3: to improve the metacognition of our students. One of the tools we are using to do this is the SUPER SIX.  There are lots of pages on the internet about the SUPER SIX that you can search. Feel free to do your own research on this useful approach to building comprehension skills.  The resources listed below, however, are ones which we endorse and are using in our classroom.
