Weekly Social Skills Lessons
Our favourite time of the week! We get out and about, join with our buddies and have a great time learning and developing our play skills.
Sometimes when our students come to Kindergarten, making new friends and playing appropriately may be a bit tricky. On a Tuesday afternoon, Kindergarten team up with some of their Year 6 buddies to work on the skills for social success.
In Term 1 we covered the areas of:
- Asking to play
- What to do if someone says no
- Polite talk
- Sharing
- Turn Taking
These skills are modelled for the students and then they have the opportunity to practise these skills in a supported way. Students who have a higher need for specific attention will form the focus group for the week and have an explicit lesson before they play. The members of this group change each week. Students who are seen practising these skills will received Goldies to reward their positive behaviours.
